Vargas-Moniz Maria
Maria Vargas-Moniz was born in the Azores, Portugal (1965). She is graduated in Social and Political Sciences by the Technical University of Lisboa (1989); Post-Graduation Course in Community Mental Health at the Instituto Superior de Psicologia Aplicada (1996); Masters-Degree in Political Theory and Political Science by the Catholic University of Portugal (1999). She is currently developing her Ph.D. Thesis in Community Psychology sponsored by the National Science and Research Foundation
Since 1987 has developed a community based intervention on the integration of people with severe mental illnesses. Also, since 1988, she is a member of the Portuguese Society for Community Psychology, and in 1990 and 1992, she becomes a member of Women’s Association against Violence and of the National Network Against Poverty, respectively. Since 1993, Maria teaches community based planning and prevention at the Instituto Superior de Psicologia Aplicada in Lisboa - Portugal
