    I am an RN presently pursuing a career in Independant Practice. I would like to obtain a Degree as an NP (Nurse Practioner) to further this goal. I am interested in Community Health Promotion because of the effect of health on ones life in general. I live in a very diverse community and find that many of the residents of my community dislike having others come into their community to tell them what to do. I wish to eventually open a clinic in my community to assist in health promotion.

    Program Analyst with the Alzheimer's Disease Program, California Department of Health Services. Our Program supports research projects for Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders, as well service to the public through nine diagostic centers throughout California. We are supported by both the General Fund, and a tax check off fund which allows taxpayers to contribute select amounts of the tax monies to the fund. This special fund is used only to fund research projects.

    Am working with a team of a health educator and PhD Epidemiologist to initiate programs in chronic disease prevention and injury control (eg. violence prevention, unintentional injury prevention, etc...) We are open to any suggestions, etc. We intend to do a community assessment to find out what is available already and where the gaps are and try to get the community agencies work collaboratively to help resolve some of these problems in a prevention mode.     I work for the Department of Health with the Bureau of Special Health Care Needs. I read about this page in our weekly newsletter, the Friday Fax. I am very, very interested in helping my community. 5 years ago I started a nutritional program in Garden City Mo (where I live) for senior citizens. It is only funded by donations. To this day they serve home delivered meals to approximately 50-75 senior citizens in the surrounding area. I want to do more for my rural community and want to find out different resources. What I have heard about CHIME, a program with MO state to help communities, I have liked. I can't wait to find more out. I am currently going to school at Longview Community College and hopefully will recieve a degree in Computer Support Tech. Then I want to get a certificate in programming to help with my job advancement.

    I am a Real Estate Broker that has my own office in Marysville,Ks. I have been active in community betterment efforts by working in the remodeling of an old Methodist Church,into a Fine Arts Gallery ( nearly completed after five years ), I am on the city Planning Commission, I am a board member of the Chamber of Commerce and am active in that area, as well as our Travel & Tourism committee to promote more tourism into this area. I am also involved in a few other organizations and keep activly involved there also. I am married (nearly 30 years) and have one grandchild. I am concerned about todays youth and want to help in areas that will help the youth of today and tommorrow. I would like to see the smoking issues and drug issues strongly dealt with. I have two daughters, one (a mom ) is an Insurance agent, Our youngest daughter is a student at KU Med. She is studying to be an Occupational Therapist. My husband works for a Fertilizer Co and Grain Elevator. He has been working there for nearly 26 years. He thinks it's time to retire but I say we are to young yet. Ha Ha. I was introduced to this program today and do have an interest in it. I hope to be of some assistance when working with the different committees.
