KU Work Group Services

Mission Statement

 

The mission of the KU Work Group is to promote community health and development through collaborative research, teaching, and public service. We work with strategic partners, locally and globally, in three domains: a) Community and Public Health (e.g., prevention of substance abuse, violence; promotion of physical activity and healthy nutrition); b) Child/Youth Health and Development (e.g., prevention of adolescent pregnancy; promoting healthy youth development); and c) Community and Capacity Development (e.g., urban neighborhood development; leadership training).

  • Documentation and capacity development for statewide efforts to prevent substance abuse in Kansas
  • Evaluation of the Kansas City Chronic Disease Coalition's efforts to reduce disparities in health outcomes associated with race and ethnicity
  • Documentation and capacity development for violence prevention initiatives of the U.S. Centers for Disease control and Prevention
  • Evaluation of Healthy STEPS Austin, a collaborative public health effort to promote physical activity
  • Support for the national cross-site evaluation of Kaiser Permanente's Community Health Initiative to promote physical activity and healthy nutrition
