Find potential members:

_____Community leaders

_____Members of other local organizations

_____Those affected by the issue or problem

_____Representatives of local ethnic and cultural groups

 

Create a supportive environment:

_____A safe and comfortable building, neighborhood site

_____Create an open forum for all to participate

 

Determine/review targets and agents of change:

_____Be inclusive of those experiences, at risk for, and contributing to the issue

_____Determine risk and protective factors affecting the issue

_____Review vision, mission, and objectives

 

Brainstorm the best strategies:

_____Determine potential obstacles

_____Strategize to get around obstacles

_____Identify how agents of change will help

_____Decide when strategies will affect targets of change

_____Determine if you will work on repairing or preventing problems

_____Ensure strategies decrease risk factors, and increase protective factors

_____Make sure strategies will address entire problem or issue
