Here, you'll find checklists summarizing the major points contained in the text, ready to use.

Getting started:

____ You can determine what people and sectors of the community should be involved in finding solutions.

____ You have convened a planning group in your community to design the action plan.

Invite these people to help prepare an action plan:

_____Influential people from all groups affected

_____People directly involved in the problem or issue

_____Members of grassroots organizations

_____Members of ethnic and cultural groups of the community

_____Different sectors of the community: media/business community/religious groups/schools/youth organizations/social service organizations/health organizations

Be sure you are able to:

_____Review vision, mission, objectives, strategies, targets and agents of change, community sectors to be involved

_____Develop action plan with steps for all changes to be sought

_____Review action plan: Is it complete, clear, current?

_____Follow through

_____Keep members informed about progress

_____Keep track of what (and how well) you've done

_____Celebrate accomplishments

Tips for successful planning meetings:
