    I work for the Department of Health with the Bureau of Special Health Care Needs. I read about this page in our weekly newsletter, the Friday Fax. I am very, very interested in helping my community. 5 years ago I started a nutritional program in Garden City Mo (where I live) for senior citizens. It is only funded by donations. To this day they serve home delivered meals to approximately 50-75 senior citizens in the surrounding area. I want to do more for my rural community and want to find out different resources. What I have heard about CHIME, a program with MO state to help communities, I have liked. I can't wait to find more out. I am currently going to school at Longview Community College and hopefully will recieve a degree in Computer Support Tech. Then I want to get a certificate in programming to help with my job advancement.

    Program Analyst with the Alzheimer's Disease Program, California Department of Health Services. Our Program supports research projects for Alzheimer's Disease and Related Disorders, as well service to the public through nine diagostic centers throughout California. We are supported by both the General Fund, and a tax check off fund which allows taxpayers to contribute select amounts of the tax monies to the fund. This special fund is used only to fund research projects.

    Am working with a team of a health educator and PhD Epidemiologist to initiate programs in chronic disease prevention and injury control (eg. violence prevention, unintentional injury prevention, etc...) We are open to any suggestions, etc. We intend to do a community assessment to find out what is available already and where the gaps are and try to get the community agencies work collaboratively to help resolve some of these problems in a prevention mode.     I am the Director of the Missouri CHART (Community Health Assessment Resource Team). We have been extensively involved in coalition development, community assessment, leadership training, issue prioritization, etc. for the past 3 years. I have a vast amount of information (i.e. a series of 5 manuals on the CHART Process, data resources, community development materials, etc) that I believe would be useful to add to the site. Missouri has a very strong state level partnership whose members include the MO DOH, the hospital assoc. the medical assocs, nursing, universities, - 30 in all, who support the CHART model, and who work through their members to improve health status in Missouri communities. I love this site - I saw your presentation at APHA. As a member of the Coalition for Healthier Cities & Communities in the U.S., I also support the development of one site, and I believe this one is it. Great work - I think you'll see tremendous use of the site, especially once the word gets out to a broader audience.
