I have been an ak amputee for the past 18 years. I am 43 years old and have my own business. I am looking for information on how to present to the city officals a recommendation to hold a disability awareness day. I have seen them in the past in other cities but not ours. There is little regard for complying with the ADA in this city and we are beginning a renaissance program. It would be an idea opportunity to bring awareness to the fore front during the rebuilding of our town.

I am a PhD student in the School of Public Health @ the University of Illinois @ Chicago. I've used the "But Why?" technique in previous jobs, and was happy to find its source through your organization. It's a great tool and I had had it in mind for use with a current class project. Thanks.

Judge on the Kansas Court of Appeals. Long involvement in children's issues. Presently am involved in early child literacy efforts. A group of us are organized under the name of "Read To Kids -- Kansas." Our goal is that every child in Kansas will be read to every day for at least 20 minutes beginning at a very early age. We hope to do this by pushing the concept of reading to children and helping to make books more available.

Parts of these web pages don't work, & it doesn't matter where you come from -- for example there are two ways to get to "Success Stories", "Champions" and "Lessons Learned", but it makes no difference. Also, the invitation to see the Client pages, and what they're doing is also misleading, since some communities make use of passwords, effectively shutting one out --- It's like getting at invitation, but when you show up at the door, the door is slammed in the face. AND your feedback button doesn't work either. A MOST frustrating morning.

I work with Oregon State University Extension Service in Marion County. We have some 12 community groups organized throughout the county commited to working on issues facing children and families. The various groups are called Community Progress Teams and have entered into a formal partership agreement with the county which allows them some dollars each year to do the job that needs to be done in their community. Several county departments support the efforts of the teams.
