This is something that everyone should know.
For the last 12 years I have been studying the housing issue. I have found out that our nation's justice department held housing as a private, not a public, venture.
Housing in the City of New Orleans isn't. Our city government has taken housing as a public venture and has made it impossible for residents of the city to discuss housing with the Mayor.
The custom of law has people from inside distinct groups sitting in the positions of authority. We no longer have British people coming over here to sit in our governmental offices.
It was decided that this was not to our benefit. That is why we no longer have them here.
We also have people from inside the boundaries of our state and local units of governments (in the state of LA we have parishes, cities, districts and special districts) in the positions of government. No one from outside of those boundaries sits in those positions.
This is the way it was supposed to be with actions our national government wanted us to take, the elimination of slum, the construction of dwellings, and the stimulation of business. And the people living inside the baoundaries they outlined were person of low and moderate income.
Community development in the past resulted with groups of people eventually emerging as independent agencies of government. Community development results with clearly defined groups of people organized as independent social, economic, and political bodies.
The people outlined by federal law are not. The do not enjoy the protection of law that others enjoy.
Are there others out there who know this and are doing something along this way?

As the Community Relations Liaison for DMA/MassHealth, I have started a forum for Community Relations, Public Affairs, etc. practictioners from different fields of work who are interested in sharing resources and ideas for community partnerships opportunities particularly with culturally and linguistically diverse communities in Mass. This network is called Community Partnership Resources(CPR) Network. We meet once a month in different hosting organizations, and have worked in our 2000 agenda plan. How can I bring information on the network through your website? And what opportunities we have of working together in collaboration? We have about 60 non-profit, public government (state, fed, local) entities represented inthe group, ranging from hospitals to museums. My phone is 617-210-5318. Thanks, Dolores

We are a community owned organisation, called Learning Links, that works to promote community change and economic regeneration by offering free learning opportunities for people with little or no education, at locations within the community. We promote the current UK political agenda of lifelong learning and offer support and guidance to members of the community, who in the past have considered that, participation in community matters and the attainment of well paid work as being for other people.

I work with a community research project called the Teen Assessment Project (TAP) which is currently statewide and originated in Wisconsin. We survey youth in grades 7-12 about worries, concerns and perceptions about such things as substance use, time use, future aspirations, parental monitoring and numerous other topics that are determined by the community involved in the project. We then develop a research report based on the results of the survey and send out a parent newsletter series to all parents of youth surveyed as well as hold forums with both youth and families. If you want more information, let me know!
