    Hi, I have read the material here with great interest. The resources provided are very useful. I'll come back, from time to time, to check any new material that may have been added. We are establishing a network of support, training & education, and resources for workers in First Nations/Native American communities. This network was initiated by Waseskun House, a healing & development centre, and Waseskun Canada, an organization that focuses on community training needs with a special emphasis on youth. They also are an Internet Service Provider that delivers training in web site development and advanced Internet applications, and design web sites for different groups. All activities are of a non-profit nature and support our work with the communities. In June, 1998, we are planning an international conference that will focus on bringing many groups together to work on issues faced by Aboriginal communities today and on forming a working network, using the internet as an efficient communication vehicle, to respond effectively and resolve many of those problems. It is time to move on from the endless discussions of issues, and to pull in many of the resources needed to do the work. An on-line registration form will be set up shortly for anyone wishing to register early for this conference. Any early registration fees will assist in the costs of organizing this event. The Elders have said that we must reach out to all nations and races in our efforts to heal ourselves, and this is what we are doing. Anyone wishing to provide information on possible funding sources, assist in promoting our work, attend our working conference, etc. , or just offer words of encouragement - everything is appreciated.     I'm a Health Educator at the Washtenaw County, MI Health Dept. We're developing a community organizing handbook for the coalitions involved in our county-wide health assessment project (called the Health Improvement Plan). Are you planning on printing a hard copy of this tool box? Are you evaluating its use? Only 1-2 of our coalitions have web access, so we went with a more tradition al print copy. I'm interested to learn how groups are using this tool box.

    You need to add Tool Box or Community Tool Box to the KU directory. When I lost my bookmarks, I tried to find you through the KU search engine and you're not there. So, I asked Steve next door and he told me to use Yahoo to find you. Success.

    Just getting the hang of using this technology. Looking forward to exploring this tool box. I am a Program Manager in the Community Wellness & Prevention Program in the Contra Costa County (CA) Health Services Department. We have developed the Healthy Neighborhoods Project based on the principles of community development, asset mapping, and community capacity development.     I run a community health education department for a local hospital and serve as co-chairman of a community health partnership known as Healthy Living 2000. Our 1994 community assessment included a health risk appraisal filled out by 3,999 local residents. A followup 1996 survey was completed by nearly 3,000 persons.     I'm a supervisor @ a substance abuse tx agency in VA. We have received a small grant from the state to either develop and deploy or deploy an interactive software package for at-risk youth on conflict resolution. As I see it, this would present scenarios to the user & ask them to choose their response, then the program would present the likely consquences. Thus far, I've only been able to find one thing like this (@ the University Of Indiana). Do you know of any others?/Jeff Shelton
