It is a process that takes time, patience, humility, a long-term commitment, and a willingness to trust and to take risks. ___ Acknowledging conflict is the first (often most difficult) step toward resolving it. ___ Reconciliation allows participants to move past their differences by making amends and offering restoration to bring groups together. ___ Envisioning and strategizing has participants think ahead to the future to move from dialogue to resolving the conflict through action. ___ Sustaining asks how can we ensure that the transformed conflicts and strengthened alliances remain that way? ___ To transform conflict, diverse groups must be brought together to discuss problems and causes and to work together to address the problems. ___ It is important to create environments for diverse groups to participate in activities and share common ground. ___ These groups need safe places to envision common goals and strategize for the future. ___ Communities should establish ways to sustain abilities to work together and prevent future conflict.
