Example: Letters of Love

In Cincinnati, they understand that the reason that so many babies are dying in their community is complex. They also know that many women in their community feel alone and frightened during pregnancy.

The majority of infants who die in Cincinnati are born to single moms who report that they don’t have the social or emotional support that they need. Women in the most vulnerable neighborhoods report that pregnancy too often feels like a time of constant judgement. Cradle Cincinnati calls people to “Imagine instead, if it felt like a time of unconditional support from their entire city.” Cradle Cincinnati invites community members to write a letter of encouragement to a currently pregnant woman in the city. They collect the letters and hand-deliver them to women during their prenatal doctor appointments.
