I was looking for information that might help my community deal with out of control hospital mergers leading to monopolies and concentration of emergency services in our small neighborhood. Hospitals now consider their various services as profit centers and can care less about patients and health care workers le alone the neighborhood that supports them.

I manage a statewide tobacco prevention and control coalition funded by the National Cancer Institute. We have a state-level coalition and five local coalition which are funded. We also have coalitions/task forces in five communities which receive no federal funds, but are provided materials and technical assistance from my office. I am always looking for good information on strategic planning and am interested in working with groups to train them on using policy and media advocacy to promote their issue(s).

Your community tool box is a great resource that we can use in the City of Ft. Worth. We have established a new division, Health Information Assessment Outreach Division, whose primary focus is to create a "Healthy Ft. Worth". We have six community based teams led by a community nurse (R. N.)that will have the support of 2 community health aides. The resources you provide will enhance the skills of our community based teams whick will help us in becoming a healthy city.
