Please tell us a little bit about yourself:
I am an adjunct faculty member at Springfield College School of Professional and Continuing Studies at Springfield College Campus in St. Johnsbury, VT. I have been teaching a number of human services courses over the course of the last 11 years at both the Community College of Vermont and Springfield College
How have you used the Community Tool Box to support your work and make a difference?
I have included the link to the Community Tool Box (CTB) as a resource for a college course entitled: "Issues in Research" which I am teaching this summer. I am assigning various sections of the CTB and asking them to read, summarize, and then reflect on what they have learned. The students in this class will move on to a 1 year group and community project and will need the skills, knowledge and experience to conduct a human service research project in their community with 2-3 other classmates. I also conduct review sessions in class in which the students share their reflections on what they have learned on their own from the CTB.

We are using the Assessing Community Needs and Resources toolkit, Chapter 3, sections 1 and 14 (developing a plan to assess community needs and resources and SWOT). We'll flip the class and use case examples (not necessarily from the toolkit) that students will use to apply these assessment tools in class.
