Please tell us a little bit about yourself:
I am a policy analyst / program officer for the Office for Children with Special Health Care Needs.
How have you used the Community Tool Box to support your work and make a difference?
I have been using the CTB mainly for staff development. My office just concluded the Title V federal block grant application and reporting and we are now in the planning phase. The curriculum on strategic planning (VMOSA) has been a gem in getting staff and stakeholders on board.

The Annette Strauss Institute is a non-profit organization on the University of Texas at Austin campus that encourages civic engagement and participation in Title I middle and high schools in Austin and Dallas areas by hosting the Speak Up! Speak Out! project, a civics fair centered around a grassroots problem solving curriculum culminating in a competition and presentation to judges.
How have you used the Community Tool Box to support your work and make a difference?
The Community Toolbox is a new resource for me, but I am hoping to learn a lot from it. Most of my work at Annette Strauss centers around community outreach, fundraising, and volunteer coordination, and the Toolbox seems to have all kinds of resources to help me out in these areas. This looks to be an invaluable resource for all non-profit management professionals, whether inexperienced (like myself!) or professional. Thank you!

I manage and teach at NLCC. The centre is focused on social reform and the pathway to this is literacy as there is a tremendous gap here in a failing national education system which continues to disadvantage the poor and marginalised. Our aim is to start pre-school and young learners centres in communities that have a need and demand for it - using the Jolly Phonics program as the tool for delivery.
How have you used the Community Tool Box to support your work and make a difference?
We have just identified a community that will be our first branch and I found excellent materials on CBT to help with understanding how to set up a community literacy centre , project design information , project monitoring and evaluation etc. The language used and models presented are easy to follow. To summarize , the power of CBT for me is taking complexed issues and presenting it in clear and workable models for people who want to become social reformers to be efficient , knowledgeable and professional in this endeavour. Thank You.

I am an entrepreneur leading a passionate team of developers to build a community development platform (part social networking site for community developers; part crowd-sourcing site for gathering the people with skills, knowledge, tools, or funding needed to implement ideas; and part project management / team collaboration software). We are definitely fans of CTB and the support/resources you provide to community organizers and would absolutely love to get your feedback on what we've built so far what it might be still lacking. We are currently still in the MVP/Alpha/Pre-Beta stages of our product development. Also, the platform itself has been built to be able to evolve and rapidly iterate as the needs of community developers and organizers change. We're currently on a 1-2 week development cycle, so you're feedback and suggestions will be implement quickly and are very appreciated. Looking forward to collaborating with you to find new and innovative ways to support community developers and organizers.
How have you used the Community Tool Box to support your work and make a difference?

I am a full-time research assistant/trainer and part time doctoral student at the KU School of Social Welfare. I have experience providing training to mental health centers and other organizations in positive behavior support and wraparound. My areas of interest include interagency collaboration, systems of care, and proactive/preventative approaches to addressing children's mental health.
How have you used the Community Tool Box to support your work and make a difference?
Still exploring it but will let you know. My colleagues and I have done work in creating regional interagency teams in Kansas all connected through a community-focused, positive behavior support framework. I'd like to see how some of our presentation and facilitation material matches with what's in the toolbox.

I work in the school community teaching children, families and staff members healthy living through nutrition education and home cooking classes. I have access to families and due to the work, parents share their struggles. And although healthy eating is the answer to many of them, it is not the answer to all. I find that "compassion" is my greatest asset in listening and motivating them to change. It is not something I was aware of prior to the work but compassion has developed the more I address their concerns.

Please tell us a little bit about yourself:
I work as a Senior Community Liaison Officer (HIV and AIDS) and my role is to coordinate the activities of different partners in order to strengthen the multi-sectoral HIV and AIDS response in the region. I also work closely with communities and support group members through nutrition and livelihood projects. Through community led structures, we raise awareness on HIV epidemic drivers we monitor changes within communities. We believe in the principle of using local resources and finding local solutions to problems within the community. Of-course there are numerous social issues that are challenging such as alcohol misuse, teenage pregnancy, low levels of education, unemployment, gender based violence especially rape and cultural practices that make women and girls vulnerable to HIV infection, however we continue to raise awareness and promote multi-stakeholder response.
How have you used the Community Tool Box to support your work and make a difference?
The CTB is my resource corner. When I need information for either trainings or community based campaigns, dialogues I get onto the internet and do some reading and literature review.
