Please tell us a little bit about yourself:
I work at the Rape Crisis Center and we are looking at approaching our prevention programs using the same principles as our intervention programs (empowerment model). Basically a shifting in our thinking and program activities that have elements of developing community capacity (at least as we understand it). I am hoping to convince our funders and policy-makers to go along with us on this grand adventure. So we are looking to developing an evaluation component from the get-go in order to facilitate any future efforts.

Gardner & Associates started business in 1999 to provide affordable community development expertise for rural communities in Nevada who need assistance most and can least afford it. Services may range from: downtown revitalization; historic preservation; unique recreational facilities; nonprofit organizational structures; grant writing assistance; community vision session facilitation, goal and objective planning; strategic planning, art and culture projects; guest speaker engagements, etc. The main objective is to work with leadership to develop programs, projects, and structures that can build local capacity and insure sustainability. With 25+ years in economic and community development, now retired, I am in a position to give back some of my training and experience. I hold the Certified Economic Developer designation, Fellow Member, Honorary Life Member, Economic Development Executive (University of Oklahoma), Emeritus status (American Economic Development Council). I attended the U S Chamber Organizational Management Institute University of Colorado and graduated from the University of Notre Dame Advanced Organizational Mgt. Institurte. Graduated from the University of Arizona Economic Course and the University of Oklahoma Economic Development Institute. In 1987-88, wrote and delivered rural development workshops for the AEDC around the nation. Served on the faculty of both the Arizona and University of Oklahoma programs for 12 years. In 1990, was awarded the Richard Preston Award for "long term contribution to the education of the practicing professional" by the AEDC Educational Foundation.

I am very interested in the Community Tool Box, especially interested in the section of Promoting Awareness of Health and Commnity Development Issues and Community Resources and everything that follows. I would like to have a hard copy of this information. A lot of the people that we work with does not have access to internet so for them it will be hard. I think the information provided is so important and vital I would really would like for them to have it. Printing from the computer takes a lot of time, there is editing and formating to do, and its time consuming. If there is a way I can have a hard copy of this information or some way I can have it I would appreciate it very much, and I know our lay-people too. Hope to hear from you soon, Thank You.
