The only grocery store serving Itta Bena, MS the Woody Grocery Store, Closed approximately five (5) years ago in downtown. The closest stories now located in Greenwood some ten (10.7m) miles away. Needless to say, the distance causes some hardship, especially for those persons and families without their own transportation. This situation also contributes to the food desert, a place underserved by a full service grocery store within walking distance.
Several groups, including the Mayor of Itta Bena, joined in the effort to develop an organization to provide food items to the local community. we are now a consortium of community leaders, concerned citizens, and city and counties entities. Some of the current organizations involved includes: The City of Itta Bena, Greenwood-Leflore Industrial Board, Leflore County Board of Supervisors, and Mid-Delta Investment Club. Other Community Stakeholders invited to Partnership with our continuing effort are: 1. Blackcrowdfunding.net 2. Foundation for the Mid-South 3. Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis / Memphis Branch and 4. Mississippi valley State University. Next Step: We are currently planning a "Building Collaborative Communities" Workshop. The Community Tool Box- Chapter 13 Section 11 Collaborative Leadership Ideas will be presented to our listing audience. Thank you. Community Tool Box.

I love helping people and raising money for cancer and poor people. I recently had a friend that has walked coast to coast 7 times his whole family had died in a car wreck his name is Todd I don't know his last name. The only thing he has in his name is a dog named Patches and a backpack.
I think it will give more people an idea of what we are doing. I also want to get more people raising money for cancer, and I would like to raise over $900.00 .

I am a 25 year veteran of the transportation Industry. I have served this country as a professional commercial motor vehicle operator, trainer and have adopted into positions of leadership by my fellow drivers. I have always spoken up for drivers rights and in some cases to my own detriment. Over the last couple of years particularly with the implementation of new laws and regulations, my fellow drivers have been approaching me once again to take a leadership role in expressing their heart felt concerns about the direction our beloved industry has taken. I have begun to seriously look into options that would allow me to convey said concerns and to add weight to effect real changes.
I am new to the Community Tool Box, and must say, that this site has made the most sense. Frankly, It makes the advocacy component seem extremely doable.

I mentor boys aged 12-17 in juvenile prisons in Kenya. I began doing this in 2012 when I met a group of 100 boys. I was working as a TV producer at the time. I began with weekly meetings but with time I realized I had to get more involved and took a break from my work to focus on my work.

Many of the boys have returned home and embraced a crime-free lifestyle while I am focusing on creative writing which has always been my dream from childhood. Meeting the boys have opened my eyes to living a purposeful life.

I am looking for help in terms of knowing where to find partners who are doing the same thing.

I stumbled upon your Community Tool Box and couldn't believe my eyes at the wealth of information that your organization has so wonderfully shared with people seeking to work in the many aspects of community and social awareness. It has been nothing short of a blessing. I am the creator of an online group whose purpose is to facilitate raw, open, honest discussion about race, racism and classism in America by embracing thought diversity while challenging ingrained fears and stereotypes in seeking answers to breaking down strongholds and barriers about race, racism, and classism as the elephant in the room. Our communities are suffering because WE refuse to even talk about the very problems that are the root and core.
THANK YOU SOOO VERY MUCH!!!!

We initiated and managed a Neighbourhood watch type organisation. The community realised that the matter of security is much bigger than the speedy responds to crime in general (ADT) and that the community required a wholistic approach to a local organisation combining job creation, housing, sanitation/health, education and safety. We created the HUB which combined all aspects and are in search for sustainability. Taxing the community outright was not an option but shifting the home and business security spend proved easier, however.... we found that as the safety improved, community members reduced their contributions to the point where the organisation had to put on hold. It is a catch 22. Increase crime in recent times saw a considerable interest in members organising new structures dealing with the matters of security. It is a crying shame to see how the entire cycle is restarted, loosing all value created before.
Using the model to define a business case for a telecommunication company, local business, security service providers, local government (Education, Health and Safety) and finally... the community.

I am a community development worker with 32 years experience firstly as a volunteer and then as a professional. I come from Northern Ireland and utilised community development principle and practices as a change management process to further develop the evolving peace as a community emerging from violent conflict and to address the multiple deprivations that many of the communities suffered in Northern Ireland
I have now moved to Australia and am utilising the same principles and practices to engage the Aboriginal communities to build capacity and help reconcile with the more modern population.
I have accessed Community Toolbox now for more years than I can remember, it has been a constant resource and guide for me.
I would access the Tool Box to check if I am on the right track and use it as a check list for project management process and project specification. I also wanted to look at some templates for report writing.
Over the years I have dipped into the Tool Box just to browse and give me ideas about my ideas for creating certain dynamic projects that would help me move a situation on when needed.
Sometimes I assessed it to learn and read up on the many aspects of CD.
