I have been monitoring Lease Agreement Contract No. 14-06-500-2087; a compact between the United States Department Of The Interior - Bureau Of Reclamation (BOR) and the State Of New Mexico, State Park and Recreation Division; as a private citizen for over five years. My intent is to monitor the progress and involve myself with the Resource Management Plan (RMP) and other issues that concern the Elephant Butte area such as the Reclamation Facilities Transfer Act. Program Manager of Sacopee Valley Healthy Communties Coalition. Based in rural southwestern, (Porter) Maine, our Coalition was created in December, 1998. Our catchmant area is comprised of 12 towns in three counties in two states! In a recent community opinion survey, recreational opportunities, dental access, and access to mental health services were repeatedly mentioned.

I am a public health nurse in British Columbia. My practice has a focus on Health Promotion. A group of us have developed a visual tool to assist with the community development process. The tool has been successfully used by many groups in our community. We have presented this tool at the International Congress of Nursing Conference in Vancouver, B.C. We are looking for ways to promote this tool to help others with community development.

The Ann Arbor Mayor's Task Force on Increasing Safety for Women in Ann Arbor, MI. is a large community coalition effort dedicated to addressing violence against women in our community.We have accomplished a number of tasks, including putting a large red, public transit painted bus (only type of bill-board allowed in our community)on the road for two years, which carries the slogan, "There's No Excuse for Violence Against Women" and phone numbers of the three local service providers specializing in assistance to survivors of domestic and sexual violence.The bus is covered with excuses often given by those who perpetrate violence against women.

Strange is fortune that I would stumble upon these pages in the midst of organizing a group (and event) aimed toward celebrating women through art and advocacy. I have only been able to scrape the surface of the toolbox chapters, but for a group with an overabundance of creativity and enthusiasm and a decided lack of organizational experience, what I have read thus far may prove to be tremendously useful. Our division and a number of our agencies have concentrated community components. We are actively assisting communities to build capacity. We have lots of experience with coalition building and other aspects that go beyond the information on this website.
