Chapter 25. | Section 11.

Section 11. Promoting Family-Friendly Policies in Business and Government

Example #1: Advancing gender pay equity through family-friendly workplaces

The Gender Pay Equity work group, made up of members from organizations such as the Kansas Children’s Services League, United Community Services of Johnson County, Johnson County Department of Health and Environment, and others, worked to promote family-friendly workplace practices to help close the gender pay gap. They partnered with the Kansas Children’s Services League and the Power of the Positive initiative to help local employers gather employee feedback through surveys and provide free technical assistance for adopting family-friendly policies. To engage employers and share ideas, the group organized a Family Friendly Workplace Summit. The presentation and discussions generated valuable ideas and strategies for making workplaces more supportive of families. The central message emphasized that family-friendly practices benefit businesses, help retain workers, and support the well-being of children in Kansas.
