Greetings: I am emailing you from Brunswick, Maine. Our community is about to undertake a community asset/resource mapping process. This process is going to develop a Community for All Ages. We are interested in gathering basic information on this process of asset mapping, the how to get started pieces, software for managing the data and so forth. We have spoken with consultants, but they exceed our financial capcity for this community development. I work for a mobile clinic that is interested in expanding its services to a new area. I have no idea where to start in this whole process. Because I am a full time MPH student and practicing Medical Fellow, time is extremely limited. Can you point me in the right direction of where to begin so that I can get the most bang for my buck? Recently Butterfoss published an article in a journal and she noted that several instruments were used to evaluate the coalitions and their operating procedures. She mentioned that "all instruments are available online from the community toolbox at http://ctb.ku.edu/". When I went to that website I was unable to find those instruments. Can you suggest resources that show the value of involvement and participation by community members. Our local city Housing and Neighborhood Development - HUD funded department is doing top down reorganization of input process.
